Paolo Caruso inizia a studiare da autodidatta ritmi e strumenti a percussione dell’area Afro-Cubana e Brasiliana. Frequenta i corsi specializzati della Drummers Collective di New York, studiando con insegnanti quali Frankie Malabe (Peter Erskine group) e Cyro Baptista (David Byrne, Paul Simon). Entra a far parte della band del cantautore Luca Carboni, con il quale effettua diverse tournée in Italia e all’estero. Partecipa alla realizzazione delle musiche sullo spot “I giovani e le discoteche” trasmesso su Videomusic e Raitre. Partecipa al “Festival del Ritmo e delle Percussioni” esibendosi insieme ai batteristi Daniele Tedeschi (Vasco Rossi) e Walter Calloni (Lucio Battisti, PFM). Con il gruppo “Cantodiscanto” risulta tra i vincitori del Premio Recanati delle Nuove Tendenze delle Musica d’autore nel 1994, trasmesso su Rai Due.

He started studying self-taught rhythms and percussion instruments of the Afro-Cuban and Brazilian tradition.
Then he attended the courses of the renowed Drummer’s Collective in New York City, studying with teachers such as Frankie Malabe (Peter Erskine group) and Cyro Baptista (David Byrne, Paul Simon).
Become part of the band’s songwriter Luca Carboni, with whom he made several tours in Italy and abroad.
Participates in the “Festival of Rhythm and Percussion”, performing along with drummer Daniele Tedeschi (Vasco Rossi) and Walter Calloni (Lucio Battisti, PFM).
With the group “CantoDiscanto” (www.cantodiscanto.com) is among the winners of the Recanati New Trends in Music, broadcasted on RAI TV.

Since 1997 he is the Director of “ The Academy of Rhythm AFROEIRA” (www.afroeira.com), one of the most reliable “Samba Schools” in Italy, with whom has recorded two CDs.
